Idina Menzel and her husband Taye Diggs welcomed their first child, a baby boy, into the world on September 3rd, 2009. Walker Nathaniel Diggs made his first appearance on http://www.people.com/ today in the following photograph:

Menzel, who won a Tony Award in 2004 for her portrayal of Elphaba in the Broadway musical Wicked, met Diggs when they were cast as Maureen and Benny respectively in the Original Cast of Jonathan Larson’s musical Rent in 1995. They married on January 11th, 2003. Menzel has also appeared on Broadway in Aida and off-Broadway in See What I Wanna See, The Wild Party and The Vagina Monologues. Her most recent solo recording, I Stand, was released last year following Here (2004) and Still I Can’t Be Still (1998). Diggs has appeared on Broadway in Wicked, Chicago and Carousel and off-Broadway in A Soldier’s Play and The Wild Party. He was last seen on television as Dr. Sam Bennett on Private Practice, and he was also seen as the title character on the series Kevin Hill and was featured on Ally McBeal. Both Diggs and Menzel reprised their original roles in the 2005 film version of Rent directed by Chris Columbus.
