If you are in Toronto at the moment and you like to laugh and you are looking for a way to help support those in need this holiday season, The Toronto Second City has a brilliant show for you to attend tonight, December 4th, 2011, at 10pm called Major Celebs and General Fun. The Major Celebs are headliners Scott Thompson (Kids in the Hall) and Colin Mochrie (Who’s Line Is It Anyway) and they will be joining a slew of other talented folks from Toronto’s thriving comedy community for an evening of laughter and music to benefit Third World Awareness, a Toronto-based Not For Profit charity.
Let me just write down a list of incredible comedians who will be performing at this event for you: Inessa Frantowski (Canadian Comedy Award Winner 2011), Sarah Hillier (Canadian Comedy Award Winner 2011), The Second City Mainstage Cast, Norm Sousa, Laura Barrett, Adam Crawley, Rob Baker, Dale Boyer, Jan Caruana, Craig Brown, James Gangl (recent Toronto Fringe Star), Becky Johnson, Kris Siddiqui, Kurt Smeaton, Connor Thompson, Kathleen Phillips, Tim Gilbert, Jet Fighter Pilots and way more! Mix in Colin Mochrie and Scott Thompson and you have an evening of unforgettable hilarity.
Third World Awareness is a Toronto-based Not For Profit Charity that brings Canadians to developing countries to assist in many facets of contributions, from working in AIDS clinics to school reconstruction projects. “TWA helps promote strength, compassion and education among communities in developing countries as well as enriching the lives of their volunteers.” The organization has no political or religious affiliations just a strong desire to help those in need.
Sounds like it is going to be a wonderful night in support of a great local charity, so, if at all possible, I highly recommend that you scout this one out!
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for students and they are available by calling The Second City at 416.343.0011 or go online to www.secondcity.com. The show begins at 10:00pm at the Second City (51 Mercer Street, Toronto)
